All about Darwen Market
Darwen Market is a traditional Victorian Market at the heart of the town centre and is famous for quality, local produce, personal, friendly service and a wide variety of stalls. You’ll find virtually anything from a traditional cobbler to fruit and veg, from hairdressing to handbags. You can also find haberdashery, fashion, food, butchers, bakers and, though not exactly candlestick makers, you can buy candles, incense, soap and cosmetics.
Our cafés pride themselves on home-made, wholesome food at very reasonable prices in ambient surroundings and our other stalls sell goods from lingerie to mobile phones, menswear, furniture, textiles, ladies clothing, cards & balloons, gifts and DVDs.

The Chocolate House was established in 1983; this small firm is well known in the North West of England for their hand made chocolates, truffles, fudge and speciality items. The only machine in the Chocolate House is an ordinary mixer.
It takes a complete week to produce and pack 10,000 chocolate of various centres, individual orders and requests, fifty pounds of fudge, and a thousand assorted children’s items, such as clown lollies and bunnies.
The demonstration is designed to show you as much as possible of what is made at the Chocolate House together with an insight into the business and an informative talk.
Be entertained with a live demonstration and indulge with the free samples. You can also browse and purchase in the shop after the demonstration.
It exhibits a good blend of early Georgian and twentieth century architecture, and as well as being a place of prayer and hospitality, it celebrates the arts. There are significant pieces of modern art in the work of John Haywood, Josefina Vasconellos and Penny Warden and periodic exhibitions. The Cathedral has a number of choirs, a world class organ and wonderful acoustics.
There are daily services, weekly Wednesday recitals and the opportunity to book a 90 minute guided tour of the building.
